Objective
To effectively evaporate 1,400 barrels per day (BPD) of produced water, containing 65,000 ppm of total dissolved solids (TDS), a pH of 6.5, and 4 ppm of oil and grease, while maintaining compliance with environmental regulations.

Eliminated Additional Storage Needs
By leveraging the Varimax 40 units, the project site successfully avoided the necessity of constructing additional storage lagoons, significantly reducing land use and associated costs.
Exceptional Evaporation Efficiency
The Varimax 40 units demonstrated the highest evaporation efficiency-to-energy cost ratio on the market. During summer months, the system achieved an evaporation efficiency exceeding 80% of its throughput capacity, allowing for rapid and effective water reduction.
Controlled Overspray & Compliance
The system’s precise atomization capabilities ensured controlled overspray, effectively limiting salt carryover. This feature contributed to seamless environmental compliance and operational sustainability.
Solution
e3 Solutions deployed three Varimax 40 units to atomize and accelerate the evaporation of oil and gas produced water at a site in the Permian Basin, Texas. These high-efficiency units were strategically positioned to optimize evaporation while mitigating potential environmental concerns.
